So this weekend was pretty fun. I got to spend time with the family and play the alpha test for Titanfall 2. I was pretty excited to see the things that they added to the game, but to my surprise they made big changes to the core gameplay. You have to rodeo a titan 3 times to take it down ( I didn't have a problem with that.) I barely got into a titan because it's completely based on how you play, without an automatic timer. (If you're not in titans half the time, then it becomes Call of Duty BO 3. An okay one at that.) I played the game mode called "hardpoint" most of the time, which I always find fun. I found that aiming was tighter and more on point (even when running on walls) and the maps have many places to run and hide. The additional gadgets like the grappling hook and sonar knife are really cool. But overall, the game is fun. They really need to take the gameplay back to what it was, add more new maps, keep the gadgets and give us the single player offline mode that we asked for and then it will be the game I have always hoped for. I have some gameplay footage from the Rad Brad below so you can get a feel for what I played.
Update 8/27
So I went back to playing this weekend to see if any of the demands made by the fans made this weeks cut and... They did a pretty good job. Titans are more accessible this time around and I believe matchmaking is much better. The gameplay is very fluid and aiming is pretty solid. I started to get moments like the first one where I wished someone saw what I just did. This made me hope that they will make a single player bot option for the multiplayer mode. (I don't have time to wait for matchmaking all the time.) Looking forward to October 28th. See you then Pilots.
